Generalized contact process on random environments.
Spreading from a seed is studied by Monte Carlo simulation on a square lattice with two types of sites affecting the rates of birth and death. These systems exhibit a critical transition between survival and extinction. For time-dependent background, this transition is equivalent to those found in homogeneous systems (i.e., to directed percolation). For frozen backgrounds, the appearance of the...
متن کاملScaling of a random walk on a supercritical contact process
A proof is provided of a strong law of large numbers for a one-dimensional random walk in a dynamic random environment given by a supercritical contact process in equilibrium. The proof is based on a coupling argument that traces the space-time cones containing the infection clusters generated by single infections and uses that the random walk eventually gets trapped inside the union of these c...
متن کاملOn the largest-eigenvalue process for generalized Wishart random matrices
Using a change-of-measure argument, we prove an equality in law between the process of largest eigenvalues in a generalized Wishart random-matrix process and a last-passage percolation process. This equality in law was conjectured by Borodin and Péché (2008).
متن کاملDistribution of dynamical quantities in the contact process, random walks, and quantum spin chains in random environments.
We study the distribution of dynamical quantities in various one-dimensional disordered models, the critical behavior of which is described by an infinite randomness fixed point. In the disordered contact process, the survival probability P(t) is found to show multiscaling in the critical point, meaning that P(t)=t-δ, where the (environment and time-dependent) exponent δ has a universal limit d...
متن کاملOn Generalized Random Railways
We consider a random generalized railway defined as a random 3-regular multigraph where some vertices are regarded as switches not allowing traffic between any pair of attached edges. It is shown that the probability that the generalized railway is functioning is linear in the proportion of switches. Thus there is no threshold phenomenon for this property.
